GET TO KNOW ME
My name is Laura Sloneker, and I am a multidisciplinary graphic designer and painter from the College of Fine Arts at Boston University. I received my bachelors' degree of fine arts in graphic design and painting, with concentrations in western art history and printmaking.
My work is often an eccentric mix of handmade and digitally constructed pieces that are grounded in a strong understanding of color trends and form. I love the complexities of color relations and color theory, and am happiest when I get to create new concepts and work with my hands. I'm a huge nature lover, and much of my work is inspired by my own adventures outdoors. My design practice is grounded in traditional studio practices including drawing and sketching from live models; and an array of electives; including photography, printmaking, and glassblowing.
When I'm not in the studio I practice yoga, run, hike, and ski. In college I competed as a ski racer for Boston University in the USCSA Thompson Division in slalom and giant slalom. Over the summer I drove across the country and visited 7 national parks, and clocked over 3000 miles in the car. I love exploring, testing the limits, and challenging myself in all aspects of live. I have a positive 'can do' attitude and work every day to get a little better, and a little closer to my dreams. Always looking forward to the next adventure!
